No action against three players: BCCI

    .

BCCI Vice-President Rajeev Shukla said the press report featuring three Indian players enjoying a midnight beach party before Asia Cup final in Karachi was totally wrong and the Cricket Board would neither enquire nor take any action against them.

"The report appeared in a leading Urdu daily Jung was totally wrong," Shukla, who was in the steel city on personal visit, told newsmen."BCCI will neither order for any probe nor take any action against the three Indian cricketers in this regard," Shukla said adding that in fact, the photographs of the players including Yuvraj Singh, Rohit Sharma and Suresh Raina were not of Karachi beach. Those were old photos taken at Sydney, Australia during the last tour, he said.

The BCCI is obtaining details about the beach party attended by Yuvraj Singh, Suresh Raina and Rohit Sharma on the night before the Asia Cup final, which they eventually lost to Sri Lanka.

According to a report in the daily Jang, the BCCI is inquiring the matter as the trio apparently spent the night at Karachi's famous French beach with a couple of their local friends who had thrown a party for them. The report, quoting sources, said Yuvraj, Rohit and Raina had gone to the beach with their friends immediately after attending the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) awards ceremony at the Mohatta Palace the night before the final."Their friends had arranged a big party for them at the beach which is a hot-spot for those belonging to the upper crest of society.

And the three players returned to their hotel early morning from the beach," the report said."After a few hours the Indian team went into battle against Sri Lanka in the Asia Cup final," it added.Incidentally, all three failed to score runs in the final. Yuvraj was bowled for a second ball duck by Ajantha Mendis, while Raina (16) and Rohit (3) too fell to the Sri Lankan spinner who took six for 13 to guide Sri Lanka to a thumping 100-run win.The report went onto say the three players had a blast in the party and as a result, they couldn't get proper rest for the final.

"The signs of tiredness among these players was obvious when they entered the field," the daily said.It also noted that the absence of the three players from their hotel for the night was surprising given the security blanket thrown for the Asia Cup by the local authorities.

Night out at French Beach didn't help India cricketers

Three members of the Indian team that crashed to a pathetic 100-run defeat to Sri Lanka in the Asia Cup final in Karachi on Sunday spent a night out on an elite Karachi beach just a day before the big game.

Incidentally, the three players -- Yuvraj Singh, Suresh Raina and Rohit Sharma -- failed to make any worthwhile contributions to India's cause in the one-sided final.Yuvraj, Raina and Rohit reportedly broke away from the team Friday evening and spent the night at the French Beach -- a popular resort for the city's reach on the Arabian Sea coast. Their other team-mates stayed back at the team hotel.

It seems that the little break did not really help the players to focus on their big game against the Sri Lankans. Cricket Updates @ Click Here
